Samsung Note 9 teardown cuts into the “water-carbon cooling system”

With the Samsung Note 9 set to launch soon many people are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the phone, but some are more interested in what’s inside.

YouTube channel JerryRigEverything posted its teardown video of the phone yesterday which separates itself from similar stories and videos on the subject.

In the Unpacked event announcement, a “water-carbon cooling system” was mentioned together with some internal shots of a large heatsink, marketed to keep the device cool during heavy gaming sessions.

Aside from the water used here (that likely evaporated when opened), and a copper wick, we’re still not exactly sure where the “carbon” part of the system comes from.

We highly recommend the full teardown video below if you enjoy this type of content. At the end, when the phone is put back together, it does still function though we’re not sure for how long without its coolling.

We also suggest subscribing to JerryRigEverything. Unlike the multitude of other channels that destroy new, expensive tech just for the spectacle of it, this one does it for a reason.

While a bit excessive, the durability tests performed here are great for seeing just how strong a phone you’re thinking of buying may be.

It catches devices that are likely to bend as well as testing out other manufacturer claims, such as sapphire screens.

We do recommend caution if seeing new tech being tortured upsets you, like it does us.
