When Huawei unveiled the P20 and P20 Pro in Paris earlier in the year, and then in South Africa a couple of weeks later, the colour options turned as many heads as the specifications of both smartphones did.
In particular the gradient Twilight option got quite a bit of attention, but was only available to those who purchased the P20 Pro.
That’s changing though, with Huawei confirming that the Twilight colour is now available for the P20 at R12 999.
There is no listings yet of contract pricing for this specific model, but Huawei ‘s local spokespeople say it is ready for purchase wherever the P20 has gone on sale previously in the country.
The Twilight colour option has proved a hitmaker for Huawei, and not because of the sparkly vampire books or movies. In fact the Chinese company has been boasting about the fact that Pantone recognised Twilight as part of their Colour of the Year for 2018.
Along with the new colour option, some of the other notable aspects to the P20 include a FullView 5.8″ display with screen notch, fingerprint sensor up front and Leica-certified dual lens camera setup on the rear.
Whether Twilight is enough to make consumers opt for the P20 over the P20 Pro remains to be seen.
It should also be interesting to see if more gradient colours for the P20 series will be announced at IFA 2018 next week, and whether the upcoming Huawei Mate 11 will utilise the same unique colour schemes.
