This dwarven mace is the latest Skyrim 3D print

With the next Elder Scrolls game still a far off dream and a single title card, we’re plunging back into Skyrim for another full size recreation of one of the game’s weapons.

Maker Elijah Kim brings us this 3D print of a dwarven mace which, given the single-colour nature of this item in the game, makes it a good fit for a print.

Kim tells us that the modelling process took around six hours over two days in Fusion 360, using a reference image to get all the profile details in.

When deciding exactly how big to make the mace, the in-game model was scaled against the player character, and it was worked out to be around 30 inches (76.2 centimetres) with a head that measures eight inches (20.32 centimetres) from spike to spike.

After slicing the weapon into seven pieces, printing took around 100 hours to complete. These pieces were joined together with superglue, and a wooden dowel was inserted through the core to add some rigidity.

After being assembled there was no post-processing work done, but we think it looks great as is. Those looking for something a bit more accurate should consider sanding or using a filament with metal in it.

At 1.6 pounds (725 grams), Kim says that it’s light enough to carry easily, but the weight distribution makes it difficult to swing.

If that doesn’t deter you, the files to make your own can be had for free from Thingiverse.

And, if you’re just not looking for a mace, try printing Mehrunes’ Razor, some Daedric weapons or the Dawnguard axe instead.
