Facebook Watch is now available in South Africa

Having launched Facebook Watch in the US a year ago, the social network is now rolling the feature out to more countries. Scratch that, all countries.

Facebook Watch is the platform’s answer to a YouTube like experience where users can browse video and keep up with their favourite creators.

“We believe it’s possible to rethink a lot of experiences through the lens of building community – including watching video. Watching a show doesn’t have to be passive. It can be a chance to share an experience and bring people together who care about the same things,” Facebook chief exec Mark Zuckerberg wrote last year announcing Watch.

Since its launch in the US, Facebook has been improving Watch in a number of ways before rolling it out to the world.

“Over the past year, we’ve made the experience more social — like making it easier to see which videos your friends have liked or shared, creating shows that have audience participation at their core, and opening Watch to videos from Pages,” said Facebook.

In addition to opening Watch up to the world, Facebook will also be expanding its Ad Break programme so that more creators can make money from their content.

In line with that the firm is giving creators more tools to better their content. This includes new insights, tools and best practices all of which are available for creators through the Creator Studio and Media Hub.

You can find Facebook Watch in the Facebook mobile app for iOS and Android. Simply open the app and look for the Watch icon in your “More” bookmark.

You can also find Watch on Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xbox One, and Oculus TV.
