Donald Trump says tech firms are in a “very antitrust situation”

Silicon Valley has draw harsh criticism from US President Donald Trump this week and it’s only gotten worse.

During an interview at the White House with Bloomberg, Trump slammed the likes of Facebook and Amazon. When asked whether the firms should be broken up the president declined to answer.

“I won’t comment on the breaking up, of whether it’s that or Amazon or Facebook,” said Trump. “As you know, many people think it is a very antitrust situation, the three of them[Google, Facebook and Amazon]. But I just, I won’t comment on that.”

Earlier this week Trump accused Google of only returning results of liberal media and negative news about himself when he Googled “Trump News”.

During his interview with Bloomberg the president reiterated that Google was treating conservatives unfairly.

“I tell you there are some moments where we say, ‘Wow that really is bad, what they’re doing.’,” added Trump.

Google has said numerous times this week that its searches are not biased toward or against any political agenda but, in spite of this, Trump has been pushing the narrative that the Google search is unfair.

The president tweeted out a short video clip this week alongside the hashtag #StopTheBias which alleges Google didn’t promote Trump’s State of the Nation address but did promote former president Barack Obama.

Google denied this saying it did but didn’t promote either Trump nor Obama’s speech to Congress following their respective inaugurations.

“We’re not going to let them control what we can and cannot see, read, and learn from,” Trump said at a rally in Indiana on Thursday.
