3D Print of Monster Hunter’s Gore Magala is sightly less intimidating

Despite the popularity of Monster Hunter, most of the 3D prints we’ve seen from the series have taken the form of 1:1 scale weapons and not the monsters themselves. While that may be because of the MyMiniFactory contest, we finally have a monster print to look at today.

Maker Runar Larsen has made this scaled down recreation of a Gore Magala which fits perfectly in the hand.

Larsen tells us that work on the project began two years ago as a request from a fan of his Rathalos print. After starting work on Gore Magala the files were forgotten about until recently.

After around 20 hours of work in Blender, the model was completed with the most challenging part coming from a lack of good reference material. After finsing bits and pieces from the Monster Hunter Wiki, Google Images and more, Larsen decided to just boot up Generations and hunt for it himself.

Printing on a Wanhao Duplicator 4 took an hour and 45 minutes, with some cheap acrylics being applied after that for a quick paint job.

At around 12 X 5.5 X 4 centimetres this won’t eat up your filament reserves, but you can always scale it to fit your needs.

The files to make your own can be found for free on Thingiverse.

With Monster Hunter: World now on PC, we suspect that many more recreations from that game will pop up as the community rips the in-game models and modifies them for printing. We’ve seen it with BattleTech, Destiny and more.
