[Update] The Fujifilm X-T3 is company’s new high-end mirrorless camera

Update: At the time of writing, there was no official pricing or availability information for the new Fujifilm X-T3 mirrorless camera.

Fujifilm South Africa has now confirmed that the X-T3 will be available in SA at the end of October. The X-T3 body is expected to retail for an estimated R23 999. The kit version is recommended to cost R29 999, which includes the X-T3 body and a XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS lens.

Original story follows below.

There have been a pair of notable mirrorless camera announcements this week, with Canon debuting its first full frame offering in the form of the EOS R, and now Fujifilm announcing the new X-T3.

This latest offering features quite a few improvements compared to its predecessor, with the Fujifilm X-T3 touting a new X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4. Added to this is a phase detection autofocus that takes up the entire frame of the camera, as well as 4K video recording at 60fps (10bit).

Diving a bit deeper into the numbers, there’s 26.1 million effective pixels present on the X-T3, with an OLED colour viewfinder on offer that has 3.69 million dots.

The aforementioned CPU onboard is reportedly three times faster than any of the current Fujifilm X series cameras.

There’s also a 3.0″ LCD display on the back of the Fujifilm X-T3 which has a refresh rate of 100fps, and should be a bit sharper than the one on the X-T2.

Fujifilm South Africa is yet to release local pricing information, or the availability status of the X-T3, but it is set to go on sale Stateside on 20th September. The body will cost an estimated $1 499.95 (~R23 158), with the 18-55mm kit lens costing roughly $1 899.95 (~R29 335).

We’ll have to wait and see what local photographers retailers price the Fujifilm X-T3 at, but given the conversion rate above, it will likely fall in line.

With the X-T2 one of the best mirrorless cameras currently on the market, we’re eager to give the Fujifilm X-T3 a go when it launches locally.

In the interim, check out some of the features and functions in the promotional video below.
