iStore confirms iPhone Xr available in SA from 26th October

We already know the iPhone Xs and Xs Max will be here later this month but those looking for a cheaper iPhone will have to wait a bit longer.

iStore has confirmed to Hypertext this afternoon that the iPhone Xr will be available locally from 26th October.

This is in line with the global release date Apple announced during its Special Event last night. the iStore hasn’t confirmed whether pre-orders in SA will open on 19th October.

Sadly we don’t have local pricing to share with you just yet but as soon as we do we’ll be sure to share it with you.

The iPhone Xr is a cheaper version of the iPhone Xs and features different components in a few areas.

Rather than using a Retina display Apple has fitted the Xr with a Liquid Retina display which is – to cut the marketing lingo – an advanced LCD affair with a high pixel count.

The only other place Apple seems to have cut corners is with the camera. In the Xr you’ll find a single 12MP snapper instead of dual like in the Xs series.

The display measures in at 6.1inches and you still get FaceID and the A12 Bionic chip.

Now we’re just awaiting pricing on all of these devices.
