ANC website still down due to non-payment

Head over to the anc.org.za URL and you won’t find the website of the ruling party but a notice.

That notice reads “This website is suspended due to non-payment to the service provider” in big bold letters and following a report from Business Day the “non-payment” is a sizeable R32.5 million.

The service provider in question is Unwembi Communications which on instructions from its attorneys has suspended service until a payment has been made.

The ANC has two weeks to pay the R32.5 million bill or face legal action.

That having been said the ANC told Business Day that the website was down because it was being revamped.

Spokesperson for the ruling party, Pule Mabe was quoted saying, “I don’t know what hogwash that is, we don’t owe anyone R32m”.

But a lawyer’s letter sent to ANC chief financial officer Bongani Mahlalela states the party owes Unwembi R26.5 million for building the ANC membership system and a further R6 million for an agreement regarding the ANC’s other websites.

Following the breach of the agreements Unwembi’s legal team has also asked for R467 412 in damages.

The ANC’s website is still down at time of publication.
