A Wild West expansion for The Surge is available right now

Back in September we learned that the newest piece of content coming to The Surge was an odd one in The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented.

As you may have guessed by the name this has a Western theme that tries to marry the new-future industrial sci-fi look of the base game with all the cowboy hats and saloons you could ask for.

Yes this new content is much lighter in tone compared to the original story in The Surge which matched its Dark Souls gameplay influence to its bleak tone too.

Today we have a new trailer for the expansion which has also just now been released.

Unfortunately this is not free and will cost R119.95, R159 or R157 if you’re buying it on Steam, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One respectively.

Those who still haven’t taken the plunge to buy the game will be happy to know that it’s been discounted on all three platforms too and you’ll be able to pick it up for cheap no matter where you choose to shop.

While we can’t speak for the expansion, we really enjoyed the vanilla game when we played it at launch on PC. What it offers over other Souls-like games is the aesthetic that we mentioned, together with a unique combat system that lets you chop off certain limbs off enemies to farm upgrades.

The main story takes around 24 hours to finish so there’s a lot of meat on the bones even if you don’t pay for these expansions, of which there is one more based in an amusement park.
