The Flintstones to be turned into an official LEGO set

Today LEGO announced that, through its Ideas platform, they would be making a set based off of the The Flintstones.

As a quick reminder, Ideas is a platform where fan creations can be turned into official sets following a long process involving acquiring ten thousand votes and an internal review by LEGO.

The set, as it exists right now, includes six minifigures of Fred Flintstone, Wilma Flintstone, Pebbles Flintstone, Barney Rubble, Betty Rubble and Bamm-Bamm Rubble.

They are accompanied by a small version of the Flintstone’s house, their foot-powered car, and a “Welcome to Bedrock” sign.

While this looks great as is, we imagine it will receive some changes before it is a product you can buy in stores. The LEGO designers need to make sure it’s sturdy enough to meet their standards while still being relatively easy to put together.

This news came by way of a live YouTube video which can be watched below.

As you may have seen this is one of the rare times where not one but two of the potential sets gets made into a retail product.

The simply-named Treehouse is a lot more than some planks nailed to a backyard tree.

It has some backstory with a small family being lost in a forest who then build themselves a rather nice dwelling in the tree.

As it is right now, there are three minifigures who take shelter in a house made up of three cabins, two rooms and a bathroom.

While we’re sure these choices will make some happy, we’re not included in that category. The other potential choices (which you can see here) were more interesting and we really wanted the Blackbird to make the cut.

That being said we’re still happy that the LEGO Ideas series continues as it’s pumped out some amazing creations, our favourites being Voltron and the maze.
