Daylight Savings Time bug affecting Apple Watch Series 4 owners

Despite packing a ton of tech and a handful of new features into its latest wearable, the Apple Watch Series 4 is suffering from a rather simple problem.

According to reports from Series 4 owners in Australia, the latest version of the Apple smartwatch can’t seem to handle Daylight Savings Time (DST).

More specifically, since Apple Watch Series 4 owners Down Under made the switch to DST, they have complained about the devices being stuck in a reboot loop.

The issue crops up in the Infograph Modular face, with the Activity function of the Series 4 unable to handle the fact that the day is now one hour shorter than normal. The bug can be stopped though, but it will require wearers not to access their Activity function.

If they do inadvertently access it, the Series 4 will crash and restart then until the smartwatch runs out of power.

Apple has noted that it is aware of the problem, but there is no official fix in the works.

It may have to come up with something soon though, especially with DST being a major event in a number of large territories like the US, where the Apple Watch sells well.

Luckily it’s not something that Apple Watch Series 4 owners in South Africa will have to worry about, as DST is not a thing here.
