Google readying a tablet called the Pixel Slate

Is there even an interest in Google’s upcoming Pixel event these days?

The company’s latest flagship phone has been leaked too many times to mention, and Engadget recently got a hands-on exclusive with the device three days early, so what’s the point in tuning into Google New York Pixel event tomorrow (9th October)?

Well the company will have other pieces of hardware in tow, and according to a recently leaked set of images via My Smart Price. The device in question is a Google-designed tablet called the Pixel Slate.

While the Mountain View-based company has not confirmed whether there is indeed a tablet on the way this week, the Pixel Slate is reportedly designed as a companion device to last year’s Pixel Book notebook.

As such it’s featuring that particular device’s version of Chrome OS, which is said to be a bit more premium than the flavour some may have experienced on OEM Chromebooks.

Along with the tablet design, the Pixel Slate is also said to be convertible, featuring a swiveling keyboard that’s detachable too. Said keyboard has round typewriter-style keys too, as well as a trackpad, with the latter not being a common feature on many tablet hybrid offerings.

There’s no word on when this device will see the light of day, but we’ll more than likely receive more information about it tomorrow.

Hopefully though, there isn’t a major leak or hands-on video between now and then.
