The Pixel Slate is Google’s new tablet offering

Last week leaked images surfaced online showcasing a Google-branded tablet called the Pixel Slate. The device was not officially confirmed by Google at the time, but was widely tipped to debut at last night’s Made By Google event.

As it turns out, the rumour mongers were correct and the company did in fact reveal their new tablet – the Google Pixel Slate.

This latest offering is a bit more of a productivity-focused device compared to other tablets on the market, and will likely be pitted against the iPad Pro and Galaxy Tab S4.

Google has also served up a few different configurations, which means the Pixel Slate will be able to appeal to a wider range of consumers. There are four at the moment, with pricing Stateside starting at $599 and topping out at $1 599. As such you can configure a Pixel Slate for the mid-tier or premium high-end markets.

In terms of specification, Intel is the go-to CPU provider for all of the models. The base version features a Celeron processor, followed by an 8th Gen m3, 8th Gen i5 and lastly 8th Gen i7 option.

There are also different tiers of RAM and storage on offer, with the cheapest Pixel Slate having 4GB RAM, the two mid-range models using 8GB RAM and the top of the line flavour utilising 16GB RAM. As for the storage, it starts at 64GB and goes up to 256GB.

For availability, the Pixel Slate will be launching in select regions later this year, but no precise date has been mention at this stage.
