New Razer Phone 2 features improvements across the board

Wwe’ve seen a number of PC gaming companies dip their toe in the mobile pool, but none are doing as much as Razer.

The manufacturer unveiled a gaming-focused smartphone last year, and have now followed that up with the Razer Phone 2.

Compared to its predecessor, this new iteration does not feature any significant improvements in any one specific area, but rather ups the specifications across the board.

Whether or not those with an original Razer Phone will upgrade remains to be seen, however, with the company not mentioning how the new phone compares to the previous one in terms of gaming performance.

That said running through the specs sheet, the Razer Phone 2 is pretty impressive when measured against some of the flagship phones released this year.

Perhaps the most notable element is the display, a 5.72″ screen, which Razer says is 50% brighter than others on the market and has a refresh rate of 120Hz together with support for HDR content.

Added to this is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage (microSD card slot for up to 1TB) and a 4000mAh battery.

Along with the display quality and gaming performance, Razer is also talking up the Phone 2’s camera setup. To this end a pair of lenses are found on the rear, with a 12MP wide-angel and 12MP telephoto option present. Up front is an 8MP shooter.

Other notable features include IP67-rated waterproofing and a Chroma lighting system for the logo on the back that can be customised to 16.8 million different colour options.

The Razer Phone 2 is currently up for sale Stateside for $799.99 (~R11 732), and by all accounts looks to be a great all-round flagship phone, and not just a gaming-focused device.
