Microsoft is integrating financial data from Refinitiv into Excel

Access to accurate financial data is a godsend and soon Microsoft customers will get exactly that in Excel, MSN Money and Bing.

The Redmond software behemoth has announced that it will being integrating financial and market data from Refinitiv into its applications.

The first application to get this functionality will be Microsoft Excel and that integration is expected to be available as soon as the end of this year.

“In a complex and fast-moving world, more people than ever need accurate, comprehensive data they can trust at their fingertips to work smarter, make better decisions and succeed,” managing director for Refinitiv in Africa, Sneha Shah, said in a statement sent to press.

The financial information provided by Refinitiv includes fundamental company information, covering 181 markets in 36 languages, and pricing information, with up to 7 million updates per second over 70 million financial instruments.

Refinitiv does however note that the data it supplies will “fulfill the needs for most non-financial professionals” so its not a replacement for professional systems.

“This agreement is an exciting expansion of our relationship with the Thomson Reuters Financial and Risk business as it becomes Refinitiv. It empowers our customers with access to high quality, trusted financial data directly in Microsoft apps and services helping them be more productive and make fast, informed decisions,” Executive Vice President and President, Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing and Operations, Jean-Philippe Courtois concluded.
