Huawei Mate 20 Pro landing in South Africa for R18999

Last week Huawei unveiled their latest flagship, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, in London and now the device is set to launch on South African soil.

More specifically Huawei Mobile South Africa held a launch event this evening for the Mate 20 Pro, while also announcing that the device will be available to pre-order as of tomorrow (24th October).

Huawei also revealed the price for those who aren’t keen on going the pre-order route and want to but the phone outright, with it recommended to cost R18 999.

Furthermore, only two colour options are being brought to SA at the moment, with the Black and Twilight option available.

For reference that’s on par with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 asking price when it launched locally a couple of months ago, and quite a bit less than the starting price of R23 999 for the iPhone Xs Max.

As for pre-orders, all of the four major South African carriers will be offering the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, with those who secure the device between 24th October and 31st October also receiving a Huawei Watch GT (valued at R5 499), but this is subject to stock availability.

The pricing for pre-orders is as follows:

  • Vodacom – R799 per month on a 24-month contract
  • MTN – R799 per month on a 24-month contract
  • Telkom – R699 per month on a 24-month contract
  • Cell C – R1 399 per month on a 24-month contract.
