YouTube announces $20 million investment in educational content creators

Education is becoming a big part of YouTube according to the platform and in light of that it has announced it will be investing heavily in creators of educational content.

As part of a blog post tackling some of YouTube’s issues, the platform’s chief executive officer Susan Wojcicki announced that it would be investing $20 million in YouTube Learning.

“Today I’m happy to announce we’re investing $20 million in YouTube Learning, an initiative to support education focused creators and expert organizations that create and curate high quality learning content on YouTube,” wrote Wojcicki.

The trouble with educational content is that it takes a long time to edit and create which means creators often have to pour a lot of time into creating videos.

So, to address that YouTube Learning includes the Learning Fund which will support creators who want to build multi-session learning content.

There is a catch though – YouTube’s Learning Fund is only open to channels that boast 25 000 subscribers or more. Creators will also have to present their strategy for the creation of multi-session content.

Creators that are interested in YouTube Learning can fill in this form before 30th November. Successful applicants will be notified by 31st January 2019.
