As we get closer to the release of Let’s Go, Pikachu and Let’s Go, Eevee, we’re learning more about the new Pokémon / marketing tool Meltan, which has now been shown to evolve into Melmetal.

This was revealed in a “research update” video, embedded below. This trio of videos shows Professors Willow and Oak discussing Meltan and their findings around it, acting as a vehicle to explain it to us.

These videos only show so much, however, and more information can be found on the official Pokémon site which now has a page dedicated to the pair.

Meltan now holds the title of first mythical Pokémon that can evolve (not counting mega evolutions) and it will have its own attack known as Double Iron Bash, a steel-type that hits twice and has the chance to cause flinching.

Right now you can get Meltan in the Pokémon Go app and then evolve it into Melmetal with 400 Meltan Candies.

These candies can also be earned by sending Meltan from the Go app into the Let’s Go games once they’re out. Other ways to get candies are hinted at but have not been revealed as yet.

We’ll have to wait until those two games launch on 16th November.

And before anyone gets upset about our choice of words in the headline, let us remind you that there’s another Pokémon called Buzzwole, which is a buff mosquito who’s name is a portmanteau of “buzz” and “swole”. Just look at the thing.
