One of our favourite Twitch streamers / YouTube creators is Kitboga.
We’ve featured the creator before but in case you’ve missed it, he wastes scammers time so they aren’t targeting unsuspecting individuals.
Usually scammers don’t use legitimate websites but this week Kitboga was shocked when the “company” he was baiting directed him to a real Microsoft website.
The webpage in question directs users to download and install LogMeIn Rescue which allows somebody to connect to, and control your computer remotely.
This isn’t bizarre as many tech support firms will do this. The difference being that those firms aren’t trying to scam you.
The streamer says that using this legitimate website, the scammer provides the target with its own six-digit code. Microsoft does warn folks about this but it’s bizarre to see a scammer so blatantly using the official website to do this.
You can see the full video below. Warning, the scammer turns nasty toward the end of the video.
The streamer is noticeably shocked at the fact that the scammer is directing him to a real Microsoft website.
As Kitboga points out, this technique could fool those that aren’t the most tech-savvy into believing that they are in fact dealing with the real Microsoft.
The streamer did reach out to Microsoft on Twitter which responded.
Hi! Let us help you look into this. Did you request technical assistance from any of our support team? If yes, kindly send us the service request number via DM for us to further investigate. We'll be looking out for your reply. https://t.co/3qcAsLFkaY

The trouble here is that the scammers are using legitimate techniques for nefarious purposes.
We recommend sharing the video above with your friends and family so that they are aware of the various techniques scammers use to try and pull one over on them.
