Google offering $10 worth of YouTube TV as apology for last week’s outage

If you’re a YouTube TV or YouTube Music subscriber, last week served up a rather frustrating outage that affected users across the globe.

In a bid to make up for the time that YouTube services were down, Google has confirmed that it will be offering YouTube TV subscribers a “free week” of content as an apology.

“We’re sorry about the unexpected YouTube TV interruption on October 16th. We love our TV as much as you do, and our goal is to make sure that you can access your events and shows – whenever and however you want. To help make this right, we’d like to give you a week of free service,” a spokesperson explained to 9to5Google.

The free week that Google is offering is not quite seven days worth of access, but rather a $10 (~R143) credit note that can only be redeemed before 20:50 (SA time) on 24th October.

You’ll also need to fill out a form, which should have been emailed to you already if you’re a YouTube TV subscriber.

With this being the second most significant outage that YouTube TV has experienced to date, it’s at least goof to see that Google is trying to make it up to subscribers this time round.
