Late last week Microsoft decided to place the rollout of its Windows 10 October Update (version 1809) on hold, following several reports from users who had downloaded the update that certain files from their computer were missing.
Now Microsoft is readying to help out those who were affected by the Windows 10 bug, with the company’s head of the Windows Insider Program, Dona Sarkar, taking to Twitter to explain the plan of action.
More specifically Sarkar tells users that they need to stop using their device, and contact the Microsoft support team in order to fix the issue.
Unfortunately Sarkar did not mention how the company would indeed be able to recover those deleted files, simply stating that Microsoft’s support team has “the tools to get you back to a good state,” whatever that means.
The October Update still remains unavailable for download, with Microsoft not mentioning when a view version of it will be rolled out to the Insider Program and then mainstream users.
While credit must go to Microsoft for providing affected users with some sort of recourse, this issue should still have been handled earlier, seeing as how some Insider Program members made the company aware of the issue a few months ago already.
Hopefully this latest development will push Microsoft to ensure greater control measures are in place for future updates.
