The Nokia 7.1 lands in South Africa for R5 999

At the beginning of October, HMD Global (which owns the license to make Nokia phones) revealed a refreshed device in the form of the Nokia 7.1. Now the new offering has reached our shores, along with a recommended price tag.

The Nokia 7.1 is set to retail locally for R5 999 and is available to purchase from local carriers as of today, arriving in the midnight blue colour option.

So what is this updated version of the Nokia 7 sporting?

Up front is a 5.84″ screen that yields a FullHD+ resolution. Flipping to the rear a dual camera system is found with a 12MP and 5MP lens pulling duty. Sitting just below it is a fingerprint sensor with the rest of the device swathed in glass and featuring an aluminium frame.

Internally a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset is found, and is paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. The latter is a bit low, so the microSD slot available will more than likely be needed, but it does support up to 400GB extra space which is above normal.

All in all then, as with most of the new Nokia phones released by HMD Global of late, the Nokia 7.1 looks good on paper and should not dent the wallet too much.

We’ll have to review it in full though, before a proper verdict can be offered. For now though, it seems like a solid value for money device.
