The Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle will hit the road in 2019

Yesterday we wrote about Husqvarna and its EE 5 electric dirt bike. Now it’s the turn of Harley-Davidson and its LiveWire electric motorcycle.

The prototype for this EV has been around for a couple of years now, and you may have even seen it in action in a few of the Marvel films recently. Luckily you won’t have to don spandex in order to ride the official version, which to bears the LiveWire name as it prototype did.

Harley-Davidson showcased the fully fledged version of the electric motorcycle earlier this week in Milan for the EICMA show, also confirming that it will be available to purchase in 2019 in select regions before being more widely available in 2020.

While the company has noted when the LiveWire will be ready to purchase, an approximate or recommended price tag is not provided. Given the pricing for electric vehicles in general we’re going to assume that the LiveWire will cost more than your average Harley bike.

Some of the other details missing are how the 2019 LiveWire will perform on the road. If we’re going by the prototype’s numbers, it should muster 0-60mph in just under four seconds and a riding range of 88 kilometres.

If Harley-Davidson plans to sell any LiveWire electric motorcycles, we hope the latter number sees a serious bump, as riding range is often the biggest factor when looking at an EV.

This vehicle is also one of a handful that the bike maker will be bringing to market in the coming years, so it’s clear that electric is a big consideration for them.

In the interim check it out the LiveWire in action in the video below.
