Stan Lee has passed away at age 95

Creator of heroes, Stan Lee has passed away at age 95.

The acclaimed comic book writer passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles according to an attorney for Lee’s daughter.

Stan Lee was born Stanley Martin Lieber but adopted the pen name Stan Lee because he didn’t want his name associated with comic books.

Lee worked in the comic book industry since 1939. He started out as an assistant filling ink wells at Timely Comics thanks to help from his uncle.

The now legendary writer made his debut in the filler, Captain America Foils the Traitor’s Revenge found in Captain America Comics #3.

It was not long after that however that Lee began work on his own comics creating heroes such as The Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. The first time the world saw what Lee was capable of was the release of The Fantastic Four in 1960.

Two years later Lee would pen the first The Amazing Spider-Man and not long after that Marvel Comics became a force to be reckoned with.

Following Marvel Comics filing for bankruptcy in 1996, Lee sued his former employer for $10 million. The writer claimed the company cheated him out of profits made from movies based on his characters. In a twist of events Lee agreed to write for DC Comics in 2000.

In his twilight years, Lee appeared in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and other Marvel movies in cameos.

The world has lost a titan in Lee and while he will be missed we will forever remember how his heroes inspired us.

Rest in peace Stan Lee.
