Stage 1 load shedding is now in effect until 22:00

Eskom has announced that load shedding will be implemented from 12:00 to 22:00 today.

For now Eskom needs to shed 1 000MW of power nationwide which means that we are currently experiencing Stage 1 load shedding.

“As a result of increased generation plant[s] being out for planned maintenance and unplanned outages, Stage 1 rotational load shedding will be implemented from 12:00 to 22:00 today,” the utility said in a statement.

We guess that means that the “low to medium probability of load shedding” Eskom announced earlier this week no longer applies.

South Africans should check the Eskom load shedding website for the load shedding schedules if they receive their bill directly from Eskom. For customers who receive their electricity bill from their municipality you will need to contact them for the schedule.

For updates regarding load shedding we recommend following Eskom over on Twitter.
