The Satanic Temple has settled its lawsuit against Netflix & Warner Bros.

Earlier this month we reported that Netflix and Warner Bros. were being sued by The Satanic Temple for copyright infringement, trademark violation and injury to business reputation.

The lawsuit was filed following the appearance of a statue of Baphomet in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. At the time The Satanic Temple took issue with the statue’s association with the evil aspects of the show.

It appears, however, that The Satanic Temple has reached a settlement with the two firms.

“The Satanic Temple is pleased to announce that the lawsuit it recently filed against Warner Bros. and Netflix has been amicably settled. The unique elements of the Satanic Temple’s Baphomet with Children statue have been acknowledged in the credits of episodes which have already been filmed. The remaining terms of the settlement are subject to a confidentiality agreement,” co-founder of The Satanic Temple, Lucien Greaves wrote in an update.

The co-founder says that the temple drew in support from many people but a number of people also flooded him with hate mail.

“I particularly loved the confused claim from the people who said we were ‘playing victim,’ with the alternative being that we simply stand silent when we feel our work may have been exploited,” wrote Greaves.

The co-founder closed off by criticising the press for pretending this story was interesting (Sorry Greaves but we found it incredibly interesting) and hopes that this settlement marks the end of “the parade of stupidity from online amateur legal experts”.

Bit harsh there Greaves, perhaps you should kick back on the couch this evening and watch some Netflix to relax. We have a great show we can recommend.
