Applications for Qatar Sports Tech Accelerator closing 15th December

In early October the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) announced its first ever SportsTech accelerator for technology startups to join the sports industry.

The accelerator programme opened its applications on 3rd October, with it closing on 15th December 2018. This means there is less than a week left to apply before the applications close and the selection process begins.

According to QDB the programme will be bringing together the best local, regional and international expertise to cultivate entrepreneurship, innovation and new technologies for the sports industry. South Africa and Kenya are among the African countries where applications are being accepted from.

“Opening up the QDB network has huge benefits for startups, combining the entrepreneurial mindset and skills with our global distribution of power paving the way for greatness,” said Abdulaziz Nasser Al-Khalifa, CEO of QDB.

As a startup you will need to propose new technology solutions for the sports industry in 10 programmes including, team performance and analytics, venue optimisation and management, sports tourism, sports culture, sports IoT, wearable and equipment, fan engagement and experience, sports medical, and virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and esports.

The selected teams will receive €18 000 to cover their living expenses, a personal office space in Aspire, Zoha, and have access to a global selection of mentors, as well as also participate in a three-month acceleration programme.
