Google and Levi’s smart jacket warns you before leaving your phone behind

When it comes to smart clothing Google seems to leading the way, with its collaboration with Levi’s in particular one of the more exciting projects. To that end the pair’s Jacquard smart jacket has added a new feature to the mix, according to reports.

This courtesy of Android Police (a pretty legit source for rumours) as the site spotted a new addition to the Jacquard mobile app. This feature now allows wearers of the smart jacket to enable a function called “Always Together”.

This offering is aimed specifically at those who often lose their smartphones, with the tag located on the Jacquard’s sleeve lighting up and vibrating should the distance between yourself and your phone increase beyond a certain parameter.

Your phone will also receive a notification, so if your device has been stolen the thief in question has something to read as they flee the scene.

It’s a feature we’ve seen in wearables in the past – smartwatches and fitness bands in particular.

With the smart jacket also featuring a find my phone function as well, the Jacquard should now be even handier for those if you who are a little absent-minded at times.

As with all the features on the Jacquard, however, they’re all dependant on whether you’re an avid fan of denim jackets or smart clothing.

All of this is great, but the Jacquard cannot be picked up at your local Levi’s store, which makes us a little sad.

Hopefully though Google and Levi’s have more smart clothing in the works, which could motivate the latter to bring it to more countries where it is not readily available.
