BioShock 1 & 2 Remastered now on GOG, original versions coming later

The Remastered versions of the first two BioShock games are now available DRM free on GOG.

More than that, however, they’re selling for 75% off, coming to $4.99 (~R71.30).

While we honestly do consider the first BioShock to be one of the best games ever made, you may want to hold off before making a purchase as these two titles may not be the best ways to enjoy either game.

As was documented at launch these remasters have a variety of problems and many people still prefer the original iterations. The Steam reviews for the first remaster are still mixed overall and you can see a lot of the frustrations vented there.

That being said, we’ve also seen many people state that their experiences with the newer versions have been perfect, so it may be one of those “results may vary” deals.

To avoid this you may want to wait a while, as the announcement of this new availability states that the original versions of both titles will be available “at a later stage”. At that point they will be added as a free bonus for those that own these titles, at which point you can check both versions to see which works better for you and your PC.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that you may already have these games in your Steam libraries. Those who owned the original games before the releases of the remasters were given the new software for free.
