Samsung Smart TVs will support Apple services soon

Samsung has made an interesting announcement to kick off the new year, Apple services will soon be available on the South Korean firm’s Smart TVs.

The firm announced that all 2019 smart TVs will feature support for AirPlay 2 as well as iTunes movies and TV shows.

Smart TVs from 2018 will receive similar support in the form of a firmware update.

In short, Apple customers will now be able to access their full iTunes library (or indeed the entire store) and watch from their Samsung TV.

Samsung Smart TV owners who own an Apple device as well will also be able to now stream content from their Apple device using Airplay 2.

Support for iTunes movies and TV shows will debut on Samsung Smart TVs in 100 countries. Airplay 2 will debut on Samsung smart TVs in 190 countries. Specifics about which countries will get which features were not disclosed by Samsung.

“We look forward to bringing the iTunes and AirPlay 2 experience to even more customers around the world through Samsung Smart TVs, so iPhone, iPad and Mac users have yet another way to enjoy all their favorite content on the biggest screen in their home,” senior vice president of internet software and services at Apple, Eddy Cue said in a statement.
