Samsung will show off the Galaxy S10 next month

A new year means new smartphones and the first major launch of the year has already been booked off.

Samsung is expected to show off its next flagship smartphone, presumably called the Samsung Galaxy S10, in San Francisco next month.

This is a break from tradition as Samsung has, for the past few years at least, used Mobile World Congress in Spain to launch its next Galaxy S smartphone.

The launch of the handset is set to take place on 20th February according to an invitation seen by Tech Radar.

It should be noted that Samsung doesn’t explicitly say it is announcing a new smartphone but given that’s what Unpacked events usually focus on and it’s around the time of year that a new S-series flagship is released, our theory is that is what we’ll see next month.

As for what we’ll see, that is still very much speculation at this point.

Popular theories so far include Samsung ditching the 3.5mm jack (BOOO!) and a corner notch where the front facing camera will be.

There is also a rumour that we could see three Galaxy S devices this year rather than the usual two. Once again, the theory is that we’ll once again be getting a “Lite” version of the Galaxy S flagship but we’ll have to wait for next month to see what Samsung has in store for us.

We’re really hoping to see some new innovations from Samsung this year. The Galaxy S9 and Note 9 were great handsets, make no mistake, but we really would like to see something other than better camera tech.
