Jake Gyllenhaal shows up as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home teaser vid

The first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home has landed online, and this sequel starring the Marvel Studios iteration of the webslinger is chock full of scenes and details to dissect.

While we’re not sure when in the MCU timeline this sequel takes (pre or post Thanos finger snap), what we do know is that Peter Parker and his high school mates are doing a Euro trip, but this Contiki tour just so happens to coincide with a mission that S.H.I.E.L.D’s Nick Fury has cooked up for Spider-Man.

Along with seeing Spidey decked out in new suits, with a black (replacing the blue) and red version, as well as a Noir-inspired blackout flavour, we also get to see two other main players in Hydro-Man and Mysterio.

The latter is played by Jake Gyllenhaal, and if the trailer is anything to go by, Mysterio is one of the good guys.

Whether that’s an elaborate ruse remains to be seen, but we’re not entirely sure about the look of Mysterio’s costume, as it resembles the awful ones we saw in the equally terrible Warcraft movies. Hopefully he ditches or upgrades it later on in the film.

With Spider-Man: Homecoming proving a solid reboot, and the webslinger clearly one of the MCU’s key characters for phase four, fingers are crossed that Far From Home delivers the goods.

It’s slated to land in cinemas on 5th July Stateside, so there’s plenty of time for more trailers and info to be drip fed to us by Marvel.

For now enjoy the trailer below.
