Unisa accounting students now accepted following enrolment issue

Last week we covered a story where Unisa was at full capacity and could not accept new students.

This week some of the students who were planning to enrol for the Certificate in Theory of Accounting (CTA) programme, but were also rejected or left pending because the programme was full, have now been accepted by the tertiary institution.

“The institution will not be incurring penalties at it’s still within its targets as prescribed by the Enrolment Management plan,” said University spokesperson Martin Ramotshela to EWN News.

The problem started with the Department of Higher Education and Training’s Enrolment Management plan which placed a limit on the number of students allowed in a course.

Unisa management had sent an email to the CTA students stating that the applications of all those who had trouble registering due to space limitation are now being processed.

One of the students from the Durban Campus passed level one of the CTA programme but was frustrated because she couldn’t register for level two.

“I am happy that it is over, no more fighting with Unisa,” said Faaiza Hanees.
