Fortnite gets Bluetooth controller support on mobile

The latest patch for Fortnite allows mobile players to connect a Bluetooth controller to their handset and play that way.

The functionality comes as part of the latest V7.30 patch. You can find the full patch notes over here.

Looking specifically at the update for mobile phones, Epic Games says that most Bluetooth controllers should work. The developer listed the Steelseries Stratus XL, Gamevice, XBox One, Razer Raiju, and Moto Gamepad controllers as examples.

For iOS MFi controllers such as the Steelseries Nimbus and Gamevice will work.

Beyond controller support a number of Android handsets (three to be exact) are getting 60Hz support. This refresh rate will have to be enabled in the game settings but once it has you should get silky smooth frame rates.

The handsets that are getting the support are:

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9
  • Honor View20
  • Huawei Mate 20 X

Anybody that has tried to play a shooter such as Fortnite on mobile will know that it’s not the greatest experience but perhaps being able to connect a controller to your phone will make the experience that much better.
