Huawei announces partnership with Discovery Vitality

Huawei has announced a new partnership which should be of interest for Discovery Vitality members.

The Chinese company is adding some of its wearable devices to the Vitality family, with users capable of pairing their smartwatch, fitness band or Huawei Health App to Discovery’s wildly popular value-added service.

You’ll be able to earn Vitality points with the steps, speed and heart rate that gets tracked on your device, according to the companies.

We are excited to welcome Huawei South Africa as a new partner and enabling more Vitality members to earn points for physical activity recorded with the Huawei Health app,” says Dinesh Govender, CEO of Discovery Vitality.

Health apps are being utilised more than ever before. Technology advancements and access to information on personal health have made it much easier for consumers to connect with and track their health thanks to apps such as Huawei Health,” adds Likun Zhao, VP at Huawei SA.

As with previous device-driven partnerships that Vitality has run, the Huawei one is only available to members who are 18 years or older, and have a compatible device. Should you not have a compatible device, there is still the option to link to the Huawei Health app, which works on both Android and iOS phones.

Discovery has also noted that members can earn up to 30 000 points each year from all their Huawei-related workout information.

To add a bit more incentive for this partnership Huawei has also announced a competition where can win an all-inclusive trip for two to the Great Wall of China Marathon in May this year. The competition runs until 31st March 2019 and you’ll need to record completion of race that’s 21 kilometres or longer and upload your data to Vitality.
