Zachtronics successfully crowdfunds a 400-page design document book

Zachtronics is a developer known for making great puzzle games with high skill floors – hell, one of their games even requires that you read and continually reference a detailed PDF about fictional electrical engineering – and now you can help fund book about their game design.

Zach-Like is around 400 pages and filled with design documents from finished games as well as those which have not been released.

The documents are annotated and are accompanied by extras, such as fake Pokémon cards created by Zachtronics founder Zach Barth.

For those only interested in more puzzling, there are puzzles you can solve right in the book which didn’t make the cut for the various games.

If you’d like to get your hands on Zach-Like, a single copy of the book can be backed for $20, or a bulk order for five copies for $100.

While many will enjoy the fact that the book is so large, it also means that shipping will be quite steep. The campaign page states that international shipping on a single book is a whopping $40, and the bulk order is $80.

If you do live outside of the US, like us, it may be worth looking into a service like Aramex Global Shopper. We’ve used this before and it’s a great way to avoid having your package stuck in customs for months on end, and the calculator lets you check how much it will cost to get your items into the country before you commit to anything.

For those who simply want to read the book and don’t want anything for the shelf, a free PDF version will be released after everyone who orders a physical copy receives their orders.

The Kickstarter campaign is live and already funded many times over (it’s embedded below), and will run until 8th March 2019.

The last time we wrote about a book from a game, it was the rather excellent Ammonomicon from Enter the Gungeon, which we have since received and will review soon.
