Apex Legends amassed 25 million players in first week

Last week we reported on the surprise free-to-play title from Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends, which managed to surpass the 10 million player mark within the first three days of availability.

Now that the game’s first week is done and dusted Respawn CEO Vince Zampella has recapped how things went for their latest offering.

Keeping with the impressive stats trend, the title was able to muster 25 million players after its first week, with the developer also noting that its concurrent player peak reached 2 million at one stage over the weekend.

“Since we launched Apex Legends last week on Monday we’ve seen the creation of an Apex Legends community that is excited, thriving, and full of great feedback and ideas. Our goal is to build this game with you, our community, so keep giving us your feedback because we really are listening,” enthused Zampella.

The CEO also wrote about a few events that Respawn has planned for Apex Legends over the coming weeks and months.

Today (12th February) and 19th February will see Twitch host an event where some of the platform’s biggest streamers will be competing in the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge.

For the lovers out there who aren’t keen on watching others play, some Valentine’s Day themed loot will be dropping later this week as well.

Respawn also reminded players that season one of Apex Legends kicks off in March, bringing with it a Battle Pass that will feature new weapons, loot, skins and more, so there’s that to look forward to.

Seeing how well the title has done this past week, it’s clear that Respawn’s tactic of making the game free-to-play and allowing a community to grow organically before introducing season one will reap benefits.

If you’re getting tired of Fortnite, which has around 200 million players to date, we highly recommend giving Apex Legends a try.
