3D Print some heresy with this Chaos Chainaxe from Warhammer 40K

While 3D printing really shook up the world of miniatures in Warhammer 40K and most other tabletop games, it also opened up the door to make much larger projects and turn tiny weaponry into human-scale props, and today we have another example in a Chaos Chainaxe.

Thingiverse user Erdrick is responsible for the print you see on this page, but not for the model itself, as it is a remix.

The original model was created by Dave Lunar on GrabCAD and this modified version was sliced up in Blender over eight hours in an effort to make it more practical to print.

The various pieces took around 32 hours to print and, when assembled, create a prop that is a rather large 70 centimetres long. At the axe head it’s 20 centimetres and its profile is just 5 centimetres wide.

We’ve been told that, while it does look great as is, those looking to make their own should scale it up slightly to make something more fitting.

Little finishing work was done here as the print was given away, with only some cleaning up of the supports completed.

Those interested in seeing it painted will have to make their own using the files which are available over on Thingiverse.

If this isn’t to your taste, see the list after the gallery for similarly large prints from Warhammer 40K. While they’re mainly other ranged weapons, Inquisitor swords are also featured.
