Apple reportedly launching news subscription service on 25th March

Finally there’s some Apple news that doesn’t involve iPhones or quarterly reports, as BuzzFeed says the Cupertino-based company is planning to have an event on 25th March.

There’s isn’t any hardware expected to be unveiled, but rather a news subscription service that Apple has been working on for some time now.

That said, The Verge believes this upcoming event could also offer a glimpse into the new TV service that Apple has also been tinkering with of late.

While the company has not confirmed the event by sending out invites, it still remains to be seen if consumers are interested in a paid-subscription news service, especially with offering like Apple News currently providing curated feeds for people.

Not much is known about the service for now, other that it potentially bundling subscriptions to specific digital newspapers, magazines and publications akin to how Netflix does so for movies and TV series.

With the firm also said to be redefining its Music offering, we could start seeing a bigger push from the hardware and software manufacturer on the services side of things, as that is where all the big investments across the industry are being made at the moment.

Could this help pull Apple out of its current sales slump due to declining iPhone sales? We’ll have to wait and see what 25th March brings.
