Following several leaks leading up to its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2019, we already knew quite a bit about the Galaxy S10 smartphones ahead of time, but now the devices have officially been unveiled, and we have four different models to dissect.
To that end there’s the standard Galaxy S10, along with the Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10 5G. As such, there are plenty of flavours to enjoy, but it remains to be seen which models will be brought to South Africa in the coming weeks.
For now let’s dive into what this quartet of Galaxy S10 smartphones are packing, and what differentiates each model.
One of the key differences are the physical dimensions, as you can spot in the header image above. The standard S10 has a 6.1″ FullHD+ display up front, and things get bigger from there. The S10+ has a larger 6.4″ screen and S10 5G variant ups things to 6.7″. The S10e is the smallest of all four with a 5.8″ display.
All four also sport all-screen designs, with the S10e switching the fingerprint sensor to the side, and the rest of the models featuring ones embedded beneath the display.
As for what’s inside, the Galaxy S10 range will feature either a 7nm or 8nm octa-core processor depending on the region. Given SA’s launch history, we’ll likely be getting the Samsung-developed Exynos model.
On the memory side of things the three larger devices all have 8GB RAM, and the S10 e has 6GB RAM, with available onboard storage depending on the model. The S10+ for example has up to 1TB storage, and the S10 5G only comes in 256GB and does not have a microSD expandable slot.
The battery options also differ between the models. The S10 e has 3 100mAh and things top out on the 5G variant at 4 500mAh.
One of the more interesting aspects to the S10 is the wireless power sharing, which works much like Huawei’s reverse charging on the Mate 20 Pro. More specifically you’ll be able wirelessly charge newer Samsung wearables by placing them on the back of the smartphone.
As mentioned at the beginning, there’s no local launch date just yet, but all four models will be available for pre-order in select regions. Pricing for the Galaxy S10e starts at $749.99, the Galaxy S10+ at $999.99, and standard S10 will go for $899.99.
