Specs Shootout: Galaxy S10 vs. iPhone XS vs. Mate 20 Pro

Now that Samsung has officially unveiled its first flagship phone for 2019, it’s time to compare it to some of the competition. For now that means Apple and Huawei’s latest offerings – the iPhone XS and Mate 20 Pro.

So how does the Galaxy S10 compare?

Take a gander at the table below.

Smartphones Galaxy S10 Huawei Mate 20 Pro Apple iPhone XS
Display 6.1″ Quad HD+ (550 ppi) 6.39″ AMOLED (538 ppi) 5.8″ Super AMOLED (458 ppi)

Processor 7nm octa-core (2.8GHz, 2.4GHz, 1.7GHz) 7nm octa-core Kirin 980 (2.6GHz, 1.92GHz, 1.8GHz) 7nm hexa-core A12 Bionic (2.5GHz, 1.6 GHz)

On the face of it, the Mate 20 Pro and Galaxy S10 are leading the way in most categories, especially when it comes to screen size, RAM and battery. The former is also far and away in front when in terms of battery size at 4 200mAh.

Interestingly things are fairly equal for the processors, with each featuring a new 7nm architecture. To truly compare them though, a benchmark test needs to be run on all three, but just for context the Mate 20 Pro for the top benchmark score for all the phones we reviewed in 2018.

With Samsung laying down a solid marker with its new Galaxy S10, it should be interesting to see how Huawei and Apple return the favour when their new smartphones for the year get revealed. Huawei is set to debut its P30 series in March, and a new iPhone will likely come in September.
