Last week Cell C made the sudden announcement that long-time chief executive officer Jose Dos Santos would be stepping down from his position.
While the firm said that an interim CEO would be appointed while a permanent CEO was selected, no names were given.
This morning Cell C has named its interim CEO and it is Douglas Craige Stevenson.
The soon-to-be interim CEO currently holds the position of chief operations officer, a post he has been in since October 2017.
Before joining Cell C, Stevenson was the CEO at Telekom Networks Malawi and held a managing director position at Vodacom Business Africa Group from 2013 to 2015. In total, the soon-to-be interim CEO has 20 years of experience in the telecommunications sector.
“As a board we believe he is capable of achieving the company’s objectives, strategic imperatives and long-term vision,” chairman of the Cell C board, Kuben Pillay, said in a statement.
“Douglas has a proven track record in successful planning, execution and negotiation at various organisational levels and we believe he will add tremendous value to the Cell C leadership team”.
Current CEO Jose Dos Santos is expected to step down tomorrow, 1st March.
