Nintendo Switch Online goes a third month without a third game

The Nintendo Switch Online service is supposed to bring subscribers three “new” games every month but March marks the third month in a row where this will only be true for those in Japan.

Since January a third game as been only available in that country due to the fact that it has not been localised in English.

In January the game we didn’t get was Joy Mech Fight, and in February it was Tsuppari Oozumou. Now in March the situation is a bit more complex.

This is because Japan will be getting two games exclusively: Yie Ar Kung-Fu and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and The Blade of Light.

Everywhere outside of Japan will get StarTropics, and the one game shared between all regions will be Kid Icarus.

As we’ve moaned about in the past, we have no idea why this Nintendo continues to do this. We understand the language barrier, but surely all the money they’re making from Nintendo Switch Online would justify bringing these titles to a Western audience.

Outside of that everyone is just tired of these same old NES games that we’ve been buying and playing for decades now. The hope is that the service will move onto SNES and other consoles in the future, but that’s just a pipe dream for now.

You can see the English trailer for the two games hitting the service embedded below. Make sure you also check out the Japanese trailer to see the two other games we’re missing out on.
