Release date for The Sinking City pushed back to 27th June

If you’ve been patiently awaiting the release of the Lovecraftian survival horror title from developers Frogwares, The Sinking City, we have some unfortunate news.

The game’s original 21st March release has been pushed back to 27th June of this year, with Frogwares making a video to accompany the announcement.

We’ve been following this game’s development for the past few months, with each new piece of news and gameplay footage piquing our interest even further for what looks to be a truly eerie title.

As for why the original release date has been scrapped, Frogwares points to a crowded release window in March, with Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice – three of the biggest AAA titles set for debut this month.

We can understand Frogwares’ desire to give its game some breathing room against those highly anticipated titles, but to announce a push back two weeks prior to the date seems a little odd in our opinion.

As such we reckon that the developers want to do a bit more spit and polish on this game to ensure it launches without a hitch. If Anthem is anything to go by, a poor launch can hamper even the best of gameplay experiences.

Having read through some of the comments of the video posted below, it seems like those gamers interested in The Sinking City are happy to let the developers take their time. We only hope this isn’t a regular occurrence.
