GoDaddy announces its official launch in SA

International purveyor of domains and hosting provider, GoDaddy, has announced it is officially launching its services in South Africa.

The first question we had upon learning this news is why? There are a number of local firms that can assist businesses and individuals with registering domains and hosting their website.

So then, what value does GoDaddy bring to the table? Well for one it is cheap.

At time of writing, a .co.za or .com domain will cost you just R10 for the first year. Thereafter you’ll be paying R99 per year for a .co.za domain and R289.99 per year for a .com domain.

According to GoDaddy vice president for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Stefano Maruzzi, GoDaddy has launched here as a way to help small businesses.

“As small businesses fuel the South African economy, our official launch here signals our commitment to supporting this vibrant entrepreneurial landscape, which plays a critical role in helping to drive prosperity and creating jobs,” said Maruzzi.

With GoDaddy launching with prices that low, it sure is tempting for folks who can’t afford a website to get one up and running now. GoDaddy does provide a free tool that allows you to build a very simple website which is nice. The Website Builder Tool can even be used on mobile which is nice in a nation where mobile connectivity is so key.

The service also offers 24-hour support via call or live chat.

“South Africa is an important market for GoDaddy with our customer base in the region growing 25% year-on-year in 2018. Our integrated suite of online tools makes it easier for small business owners and entrepreneurs to leverage the power of the internet to help their business become more visible,” Maruzzi concluded.
