Stage 4 loadshedding commences at 09:00 on Wednesday

Loadshedding commences once again today as Eskom implements Stage 4 for the fifth day running.

Stage 4 commences at 09:00 on Wednesday morning and is expected to run until 23:00. Over the last four days, Eskom has switched to Stage 2 loadshedding from 23:00 to 09:00 the next morning. Whether that will be the case on Wednesday remains to be seen.

The reason given by Eskom for the rolling blackouts is, once again, a shortage of capacity.

On Tuesday, Eskom chairperson Jabu Mabuza and minister of public enterprises Pravin Gordhan addressed the rampant power cuts South Africa has faced since Saturday 16th March.

The minister said that Eskom would pledge to improve communication between it and the public.

That having been said, South Africans will need to bite down and wait for additional news about loadshedding for 10 days.

Reports suggest that a shipment of diesel is expected to land in South Africa on Thursday which might help alleviate loadshedding but we don’t expect this to fuel to end loadshedding completely.

For now, check your schedules and try to plan your day. On the bright side, tomorrow is Human Rights Day so you won’t have to fight through traffic caused by loadshedding.
