CoGrammar opens applications for their IT skills programme

CoGrammar is inviting local unemployed matriculants and graduates to apply for its six-month coding programme, with the aim to create job opportunities for 200 prospective code-quality assurance engineers, software engineers and web developers by 2020.

According to IT Web, the programme will take 66 unemployed matriculants and graduates for a tuition-free full-time coding programme at its Cape Town campus. Transport to the venue and other accommodation related expenses are the responsibility of the applicants, however.

“The application of our triple-outcome approach will teach a combination of Web development, software engineering and code review skills, which are critical to accelerating the progress of our marginalised youth to counter unemployment and non-inclusive growth,” said CEO of CoGrammar, Riaz Moola.

CoGrammar explained that the programme is opened to South African citizens or valid visa holders aged between 18 and 25 years, who obtained an average of 60 percent in English and a pass in Mathematics or Mathematical Literature for Matric.

The company further explained that applicants should not have work or study commitments during the period of training. Applicants don’t need prior coding skills, but they should enjoy problem solving, be attentive to detail, communicate confidently with good writing skills, and have a positive attitude, the startup added.

“Our focus on people first combined with our human code review methodology and practical workplace ready approach sets trainees on triple outcomes career path in tech,” concluded Moola.

Applications can be submitted online, with a compulsory assessment required for completion before the 7th April. Training will start 24th April and end 24th October.
