Midday has passed here in South Africa which means that the annual April Fool’s antics that cover the internet now need to confess the fakery.
We had our own bit of fun with the annual pass to publish fake news. Had you not already realised, we are not launching a “6G” network and have no plans to do so. We’re tech journos, not tech engineers.
Aside from our inspired idea, there were a number of jokes published online by big brands and we’ve compiled some of our favourites here.
Locally we had My Broadband poking fun at Eskom. My Broadband went with a product called Eskom Prime, a new service which will insure you never have loadshedding again. For R995 we think it’s a bargain!
Our favourite April Fool’s pranks usually come from the big tech firms around the world and this year Razer didn’t disappoint.
The firm introduced Razer Ping, an augmented reality app that lets you ping everything you see like you can in Apex Legends.
While Asus showed off a fictional 360 degree monitor we really want it to be a reality. Impractical you say? We don’t much care, the idea of being surrounded by monitors has been on our vision board for decades now.
Push the boundaries of gaming until there are simply none left:
The ROG Swift PG360° is here.
Get immersed with a 3.14159 ms response time and 360Hz refresh rate.

Of course we can’t share that tweet above without explaining what Nvidia’s R.O.N is. Simply put it’s a holographic, virtual, gaming assistant. The device is powered by AI and can execute fictional tasks such as optimising your games, give you advice about dropping in Apex Legends and monitor rage in game.
Anybody worried about the shocking amount of game launchers you need to install these days will likely enjoy the next product.
With the help of the “brightest minds on Reddit”, Corsair has announced the Corsair Game Launcher Launcher, a launcher that launches your game launchers. Smart! You can even recycle the games you don’t play for other games that you won’t play.
We are proud to announce our new, easy-to-use software that will change the way you manage all your games.

We have one more joke to share with you and while it isn’t related to tech we really want this in our lives.
Is this a terrible idea? Yes. Are we morbidly curious about what chocolate coffee toothpaste tastes like? Yes, yes we are.
