Valve briefly publishes details about Index VR headset on Steam Store

The world is itching for more news on Valve’s Index VR headset after a brief teaser last week and on Monday that’s what we got, sorta.

Valve appears to have accidentally published a Steam Store page for the Index on Monday before quickly taking it down. Thankfully some keen-eyed Twitter users, user Wario64 in this instance, were able to grab the info and share it with the world.

Aside from the “Lorem Ipsum” stock text scattered throughout the page, there is a decent amount of information to grab from it. For one, the release date of the Valve Index appears to be 15th June.

While this could be a standard date Valve applies to all of its releases on Steam, the number of references to “June 2019” are too numerous to ignore.

The headset itself will ship with a power adapter, two face gaskets, a cleaning cloth, integrated headphones and the tether which houses DisplayPort 1.2 and USB 3.0 connectors.

The Steam Store page also references a link to base stations but that link (like the rest of the store page for the Index) is dead.

As for hardware requirements, the Index doesn’t appear to be demanding all that much.

Minimum requirements call for a dual-core CPU with Hyper-Threading, 8GB of RAM and either an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 480.

Recommended system requirements call for a quad-core CPU or better, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or better and that’s it for now.

Right now details are still incredibly thin on the ground and we’re going to have to wait until May for news on pricing and to confirm whether 15th June is the launch date of the headset.
